Alzheimer's Caregivers Support Group

Caring for a person with dementia requires different techniques than those needed to care for someone who is not cognitively impaired. Alzheimer’s Association support groups encourage attendees to share information, give and receive mutual support and exchange coping skills. Attendees can offer practical suggestions based on their own experiences that may make caregiving easier. Sharing those ideas in a support group can prevent caregivers from “reinventing the wheel.”

Our Caregivers Support Group is free and facilitated by a trained Alzheimer’s Association volunteer. We meet at 10 a.m. the 2nd Friday every month in the Learning Center on the 2nd floor. Registration not required.

Alzheimer's and Dementia Series: What to Consider on the Dementia Journey - 10 Helpful Action Items

Julie Ehrlich, a Certified Care Manager, will guide families and caregivers of loved ones with dementia through action points required to provide the care necessary for them. Learn steps you can take to become better equipped to offer that care for the future and what resources you’ll need on the dementia journey.

Ms. Ehrlich has over 26 years of healthcare experience, including as a services director for a skilled nursing and rehab facility and an activities director for a memory care unit. Julie has been a Certified Care Manager through the Aging Life Care Association since 2012 and was promoted to Area Manager in 2022. She has facilitated a Dementia Caregiver Support Group at a local Assisted Living with the support of the TN Alzheimer’s Association since 2012. She has also been an Independent Dementia Consultant for Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach for Care since 2017.

CSI Fingerprint Workshop

Do you like reading mystery or detective stories? If so, put your sleuthing skills to work during this CSI workshop on fingerprinting taught by attorney and Williamson County 4-H STEM Instructor Jennifer Hartsell-Stockdale. Learn about common fingerprint patterns and try dusting for latent fingerprints like a real detective. Ages 8 to 12. (Note: this workshop is different than the fingerprint class taught by Ms. Jennifer for older students at the 4-H Office.) Seating is limited, registration required.

Community Helper Talk - Agape Animal Rescue

What happens to dogs that end up homeless? Organizations like Agape Animal Rescue take them in and care for them until they find a forever home. Join us as Kym Iffert of Agape Animal Rescue shares the many ways they help both dogs and people. You'll see photos of the dogs and hear stories of successful adoptions. Registration not required. Recommended for preschool and school-age children ready to listen and learn.

This summer, we will have bubbles and chalk outside every (weather permitting) Wednesday from 2-3 PM. Come draw on our sidewalk and blow bubbles while making new friends!

Baby & Me Playtime is an open playtime designed for babies 0-18 months old and their caregivers. Older siblings are welcome! In the summer, it takes place on Fridays at 10:30 AM

Nolensville Needlers

Join us for an informal needlework circle for adults every Friday from 3:00-5:00. Whether you knit, crochet, quilt, embroider, or needlepoint, everyone who creates textiles with a needle is welcome. Bring your own materials. Come chat, share, and learn with us in one of the original makerspace ways!
