At the start of the pandemic lockdown, the Williamson County Public Library System made temporary ONLINE card applications possible for our community members without library cards who were sheltering at home to utilize our online resources such as ebooks, streaming movies and more. Due to to the popularity of the service, we are going to continue this service.
Please note if you already have a Library card, you have full access to all our online and in-house services. There is nothing that you need to change. These changes only apply to persons who have an online account only.
On Monday, July 27th, WCPLS is changing from a temporary ONLINE Library card system to a permanent ONLINE Library card system. New online Library cards will expire 1 YEAR after they are created. In order to do make this change, the new online only Library cards will now require a working email. New cards will be available on Tuesday, July 28th.
The ONLINE card is meant for those people who do not have a physical Library card and ONLY wish to have remote access to:
- OverDrive/READS (ebook, eaudio, and emagazines);
- RBDigital (ebook, eaudio);
- Hoopla (ebook, eaudio, music, film, television, & comic books;
- Ebsco ebooks from our catalog; &
- Flipster emagazines
If you wish to checkout physical items you should get a physical library card, not an ONLINE card.
If you have a physical library card, STOP. DO NOT do anything.
If there are multiple ONLINE Library cards to one email address only ONE of the Library cards will be replaced and sent to the email on file. Each online Library card patron account requires it’s own email address.
If you already have an ONLINE Library card with an active email address, your current Library card will be replaced and your new Library card number will be mailed to you.
If you have an ONLINE Library card that does not have an active email address AND you need an ONLINE Library card, you should create a new ONLINE Library card after Monday July 27th. We cannot email your new Library card account number to you if the email address is inactive or inaccurate.
