Join a NEW book club at the WCPLS for True Crime Enthusiasts on June 28, 2022 at 6:30 PM.

In our July meeting, we will discuss Before and After: The Incredible Real-Life Stories of Orphans Who Survived the Tennessee Children's Home Society by Judy Christie and Lisa Wingate. This book tells of the real crimes that inspired Wingate's bestseller Before We Were Yours, describing the black-market baby business at the Tennessee Children’s Home Society in Memphis. Georgia Tann offered up more than 5,000 orphans tailored to the wish lists of eager parents, willing to pay. Tann ran a criminal enterprise selling children stolen from the poor and the desperate; and was not above lying to new mothers, telling them their babies had died. It was an elaborate scheme that tore families apart; impacting households for generations.
In July we will discuss The Innocent Man by John Grisham.
Registration is required.
All Library programs are free and open to the public.
