  2. Readings for Racial Justice Book Club

    September 15, 2020, 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM

This is the first initial planning meeting.

As a first intial reading, this Washington Times editorial gives a raw and critical perspective on these types of book clubs and a rejection of the "performative wokeness" that can often accompany them:

When Black People are in Pain, White People Just Join Book Clubs

I think it's important to really listen to these critiques, and sit with that information a bit, and examine what we really want to do and accomplish with these readings. What do we want to learn? How do we want to stretch our minds, and what do we want to do with that knowledge?

We'll be having a detailed discussion of that and see where everyone is at as far as goals, interests, and priorities with these readings so that we can tailor a reading list for those goals.
